John grew up in small-town Texas but managed to escape. Hi’s love for visual storytelling began with the comic books he would meticulously imitate in his sketchbooks, then matured into a passionate devotion to narrative film. John studied both film and art at the University of Texas in Austin where he attended the prestigious Intensive Film Production program.

John has written and directed (and occasionally photographed and edited) multiple short films. His recent project HUSTLE has garnered high praise, and John was honored with the Best Director Award for the film by the Culver City Film Festival.

John spent over a decade working as a storyboard artist and illustrator on numerous feature film, television, and commercial projects. John’s creative abilities have been instrumental in the conceptualization of projects featuring performers such as Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, and Michael Fassbinder. John’s commercial credits include Lebron James’ very first Nike spot, “Court Vision,” featuring Bernie Mac. He also worked on the popular Beats Headphones “I’m the Man” campaign starring Colin Kaepernick and other professional athletes. In 2012, John provided conceptual illustrations for the “Tupac Shakur” hologram that wowed audiences at that year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

John lives with his wife Ana Patricia, and their young daughter Maya Xiomara, who shares her father’s love of creative expression and her mother’s fierce independence.
